At its core, Image Gently (IG) is an assurance organization. It advocates careful consideration of the patient's clinical needs prior to selecting an appropriate imaging procedure (justification). When an imaging procedure involving x-rays is selected, the ultimate goal is to create good quality images or imaging guidance while properly managing the radiation dose to the patient. This is best achieved when appropriately trained staff members operate properly configured imaging equipment to address the unique requirements of pediatric imaging.
